Evan Ceolini, chief executive of the crypto exchange aggregator SwapSpace, has a specific answer for why tokenized assets accelerated through 2025 and 2026. He argues in a HackerNoon essay published on 11 October that RWA growth followed the plumbing, and that four developments converged to make tokenized assets usable rather than merely available.
Live data from RWA.xyz on 13 October supports one half of that reading and complicates the other. Binance’s bStocks, launched in June, now leads tokenized stock value on 91 underlying listings, which is exactly the distribution effect he describes. Holder counts are climbing at the same time that monthly transfer volume has fallen by more than two thirds, which suggests RWA growth and RWA usage have stopped moving together.
SwapSpace’s CEO Ties RWA Growth to the Chain From Issuance to Redemption
The four RWA growth drivers Ceolini names are product choice becoming real, the assets starting to work onchain as collateral, crypto users seeking exposure to different risk drivers, and spot and perpetual markets adding trading activity. Running an aggregator, he writes, “makes the distribution gap easy to see. A token needs to appear in wallets, route across exchanges, connect to liquidity, and redeem under clear terms.”
His test for whether a product works is deliberately unglamorous, and none of it concerns price. “For many users, a useful RWA product requires a reliable combination of issuance, custody, pricing, wallet support, trading routes, liquidity, and redemption,” he writes. “Product count matters less than whether that chain works from end to end.” HackerNoon labels the piece as opinion and thought leadership, and marks it AI-assisted.
Treasuries and Gold Supplied Almost All of the $13.90 Billion Increase
CoinGecko’s RWA Report 2026 put the market capitalization of tokenized real-world assets, excluding stablecoins, at $19.32 billion on 31 March 2026, against $5.42 billion at the start of 2025. That 256.7% increase across fifteen months is the RWA growth figure Ceolini builds his case on, and the composition underneath it explains more than the total does.
Treasuries and commodities account for $13.12 billion of the $13.90 billion the sector added, leaving tokenized stocks and ETFs as small but entirely new categories. Source: CoinGecko RWA Report 2026 · Chart: FinanceFeedsTokenized Treasuries added $9.00 billion, a 225.5% rise, and tokenized commodities went from $1.43 billion to $5.55 billion, with Tether’s XAUT and Paxos’ PAXG supplying 89.1% of that expansion. So most RWA growth over the period came from two asset classes that crypto holders already understood. The Treasury share of the sector still slipped from 73.7% to 67.2%, because two further categories arrived from nothing. Tokenized stocks reached $486.69 million and tokenized ETFs $297.50 million, both having launched only in mid-2025.
Binance’s bStocks Took the Lead Ondo Held With 58% in March
RWA growth in tokenized equities crossed $1 billion on 10 March 2026, a point at which Ondo held roughly 58% of the market and xStocks about 24%, after a climb of nearly 2,900% across twelve months. That ranking has since been rearranged by an exchange that was not in it.
Distributed value tracks distribution reach rather than catalog size, with bStocks leading on 91 listings while Reality’s 3,159 listings hold a sixth as much. Source: RWA.xyz, 13 October 2026 · Chart: FinanceFeedsRWA.xyz showed $3.28 billion in distributed value across tokenized stocks and ETFs on 13 October, with bStocks first at $930.5 million. Binance launched the product in June and issues it through BTech Holdings under an Abu Dhabi prospectus, one of the seven venues now distributing tokenized equities. Ondo follows at $912.6 million from 408 listings, xStocks at $594.1 million from 1,270.
The spread tests Ceolini’s own claim, since Reality carries 3,159 underlying stocks for $147.4 million while Securitize holds $375.0 million across three. Recent listings show the same pattern, with Space Exploration Technologies appearing twice in the table, at $86.6 million through bStocks and $35.8 million through xStocks.
Investor Takeaway
Binance’s bStocks reaching $930.5 million from 91 listings four months after launch suggests exchange distribution now drives RWA growth in tokenized stocks faster than catalog size does.
Holders Reached 4.38 Million While Monthly Transfers Fell 71.62%
The engagement data on that same RWA.xyz dashboard runs in the opposite direction. Holders were up 21.54% over thirty days to 4.38 million and distributed value up 15.04%, against monthly transfer volume down 71.62% to $9.96 billion and monthly active addresses down 65.98% to 1,178,006. Ownership is widening while turnover thins, so RWA growth measured by holders and RWA growth measured by activity now point opposite ways.
Ceolini worked from a 3 September snapshot of the same dashboard, which carried $2.55 billion in distributed stock value, $23.48 billion in monthly transfer volume and 2.54 million holder addresses. He cautions that “an address is not a verified person,” and names the constraints he expects to bite: legal access by jurisdiction, liquidity fragmented across issuers and chains, and redemption that “can fail operationally or become expensive during stress.”
Which of those two series leads from here decides whether RWA growth produces a working market or a larger catalog. Morgan Stanley’s plan to support tokenized equities in the first quarter of 2027 would add distribution of a different order, and the bank’s own analysts see tokenized real-world assets reaching as much as $10 trillion by 2030.
Investor Takeaway
Tokenized stock holders rising 21.54% in thirty days to 4.38 million while monthly transfer volume fell 71.62% makes current RWA growth look like accumulation rather than trading.
