Crypto markets were flat on October 16, 2026, but Injective (INJ) stood out as one of the top performers in the Layer-1 sector. The token rose nearly 30% in 24 hours. Three things drove the move: Injective’s leaders met US regulators in Washington, a major Thai company began running an institutional validator on the network, and Injective announced a new cross-chain USDC route.
INJ reached an intraday high near $9.35 on Binance after recovering from a session low of $8.50. According to CoinGecko, it is up 32.3% for the week and just over 70% for the month. That has reshaped the short-term Injective price prediction for a token that spent most of 2026 setting new lows.
Why Is Injective Price Surging? Key Catalysts Trigger Market Response
Washington meetings
The main driver was a meeting between Injective’s leadership and US regulators. On Wednesday, October 14, CEO Eric Chen met officials from the White House, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Injective’s General Counsel, Head of Policy and Head of Research joined him. In a post after the meetings, Injective wrote:
“Injective has quietly built the foundation for tokenization to thrive in America, inside the regulatory framework and in direct collaboration with the U.S. government and major regulatory bodies.”

The company ended the post with a clear statement of intent:
“The rules for onchain capital markets are being set right now, and Injective is at the table with the people setting them.”
The post did not say what was discussed or agreed. To support its position, Injective pointed to these milestones:
SEC transfer agent registration: Injective Institutional Services became an SEC-registered transfer agent in August. This means tokenized securities on Injective can carry official ownership records.
CFTC-regulated futures: INJ is one of a small group of crypto assets with CFTC-regulated futures listed in the US.
Injective Mint: a tool that gives issuers a compliant way to bring real-world assets onchain.
Policy work: Injective proposed a time-based exemption for DeFi builders to the SEC Crypto Task Force. It also filed a comment letter arguing that DeFi lending is not a securities transaction.
Gulf Labs validator
Gulf Labs is a subsidiary of Thailand’s GULF Group, which has a market capitalization of about $27 billion. The group operates more than 24 gigawatts of energy capacity and serves over 46 million mobile subscribers. On October 8, Injective confirmed that Gulf Labs had begun running an institutional validator on its blockchain. The partnership covers possible work on tokenization, stablecoins and digital infrastructure in Thailand.
Injective is now home to 135 live onchain RWA markets.

Derivatives demand
Leveraged traders added fuel to the move. INJ’s funding rate turned positive just before the breakout, meaning traders holding long positions were paying to keep them open. Open interest rose 44%, and trading volume roughly doubled to $286.77 million. CoinGecko data shows INJ closing at $6.93 on October 9 and $7.66 on October 14, then trading above $9 on October 16. That lifted its market capitalization to around $900 million.

Monthly buyback
Injective sends its on-chain revenue into the INJ Community BuyBack program, which permanently removes INJ tokens from circulation every month. The company expects revenue to grow as new tokenization products launch. Keep in mind that the chart comes from Injective itself, and a strong ratio does not guarantee a rising token price.
New USDC route and gas fee vote
On October 16, Injective activated a new Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) route for USDC. Users can now move the stablecoin onto the network through LI.FI and Jumper, which makes it easier to bring liquidity into Injective’s DeFi ecosystem. Separately, stakers are voting on IIP-709, a proposal to introduce fixed gas fees.
The brand new CCTP route for $USDC is now live on Injective.
You can begin onboarding with USDC with @lifiprotocol and @jumperapp as Injective is set to become the canonical stablecoin standard for more than 20 blockchains moving forward.

Technical Analysis Reveals Injective Price Bullish Potential and Injective Price Prediction
My technical analysis shows INJ broke out of a weeks-long consolidation with strong conviction. Price moved through the $8.50–$8.70 range as volume surged. It also cleared a rising trendline from the early-June high, now near $8.90, and the late-September peak at $8.65.
Bullish signals
Moving averages: The 20-, 50-, 100- and 200-day EMAs sit at $7.71, $6.96, $6.22 and $5.76. All four are rising and stacked in bullish order below the price.
MACD: The daily MACD has crossed back above its signal line.
Ichimoku Cloud: INJ trades above its daily Ichimoku Cloud.
Directional Movement Index: +DI reads 21.51 against −DI at 14.75, so buyers are in control.
Signs the rally is stretched
INJ trades about 19% above its 20-day EMA.
RSI is near 70, close to overbought territory.
The 4-hour Commodity Channel Index (CCI) reads 209.77, an unusually high level.
MACD is still below its September peak even though price has made a new high. This bearish divergence often comes before a pause.
I expect some consolidation before the next leg higher.
Resistance levels
$9.50: local resistance just above the $9.31–$9.35 intraday highs.
$9.60: the 50% Fibonacci retracement of the decline from $16.55 to $2.65. A weekly close above this level is the key confirmation signal.
$10: the psychological target.
$10.50, $11.00 and $11.24: further upside targets, with $11.24 being the 61.8% retracement.
$13.57: the 78.6% retracement. A sustained move above it would signal a long-term trend reversal.
Support levels
$8.50–$8.90: the breakout zone and broken trendline. This is my preferred area to buy a dip.
$7.71–$7.89: the 20-day EMA plus the Ichimoku conversion and base lines. This is the safety net for the medium-term trend.
Around $7.00: the 50-day EMA and the lower edge of the cloud. A break below this level would hand the advantage to bears.

Injective Price Prediction FAQ
Is Injective used by traditional financial institutions?
Increasingly, yes. Injective is a DeFi protocol built on the Cosmos SDK, but it has actively pursued regulatory alignment. Examples include the SEC transfer agent registration for Injective Institutional Services and GULF Group’s institutional validator. Together these connect traditional financial compliance with on-chain tokenization.
What is the Injective price prediction for next week?
INJ could extend toward $9.50 and $10 if it holds above $8.90. If it loses $8.50, a pullback toward $7.71–$7.89 becomes likely.
Why is Injective price going up today?
The main drivers are:
the CEO’s meetings with White House, SEC and CFTC officials
the Gulf Labs validator
the new USDC CCTP route
Injective’s lead in revenue-to-FDV
strong derivatives demand
Will INJ reach the $10 mark?
Yes, it is achievable in the near term. INJ first needs to clear $9.50 and post a weekly close above $9.60. Overbought readings suggest a pause may come first.
Is Injective a good buy right now?
That depends on your risk tolerance. The trend is bullish, but INJ is stretched after a 70% monthly rally. The $8.50–$8.90 zone offers a better entry than chasing the highs, and crypto remains highly volatile.
