AMD stock prediction: $794.75 bull, $394.20 bear

The comfortable reading is that Tuesday’s third-quarter print against a $13 billion guide sets the year-end price. That reading is wrong. AMD closed Friday, 23 October 2026, at $516.79. Through 31 December the last 90 daily log-returns put a bull at $794.75, a base at $521.82 and a bear at $394.20. The base sits $5.03 above that close because the mean of those returns is slightly positive.

What the coverage skips is the share count that has not vested, and the multiple on one quarter of earnings. OpenAI OpCo and Meta each hold a warrant for up to 160 million shares at $0.01. As of 27 June 2026 none of those shares had vested. A revenue print inside $12.7 billion to $13.3 billion does not, by itself, put the close at $794.75 or at $394.20. The year-end band is the price path. The warrant and the multiple sit inside that path. Next quarter’s revenue does not replace it.

What just happened, and why the obvious reading is wrong

Two sessions did the visible work, and neither was an earnings release. On Thursday, 22 October, AMD closed at $507.93, down $44.79, or 8.10356 percent, from Wednesday’s $552.72, on volume of 28,007,410. On Friday the shares closed at $516.79, up $8.86. The closes used here are Friday’s completed prints. A Monday premarket screen is not the spot. The historical file had no completed 26 October bar.

From the 16 October close of $528.75, Friday is down 2.26194 percent, $40.00 under the prior five-session high and $70.4325 under the 20-day average. The obvious reading is a supply scare, or a quarter already missed. The quarter has not been reported. The August guide is still approximately $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, and the print is set for 3 November.

Thursday is not the day that dominates the distribution. In the last 90 log-returns, the largest absolute move is 30 July 2026, from $429.56 to $485.39, up 12.997 percent, and 9.99 percent of the sample variance. Thursday’s drop is 4.82 percent of that variance. The other false tell is the $600 line on the OpenAI warrant’s final tranche. Friday is $83.21 under it. The first close at or above $600 in this file is 21 September, at $615.52. The last is 13 October, at $605.53. Sixteen closes cleared the line and the tape gave it back.

Who is exposed

OpenAI OpCo holds the warrant in the 5 October 2025 8-K: up to 160 million shares at $0.01, vesting on Instinct purchases. The first tranche follows delivery of the initial 1 gigawatt of MI450 products. The full 160 million need 6 gigawatts. Stock-price targets escalate to $600 for the final tranche, and each vested tranche still needs technical and commercial conditions. The warrant runs through 5 October 2030. Meta holds the February 2026 warrant, also up to 160 million shares at $0.01, exercisable through 23 February 2031. The 10-Q says both vest on purchase milestones and on stock-price and performance conditions. The $600 figure is the OpenAI filing. This piece does not assign Meta a price from a document that was not opened.

Existing holders sit on the 1,632,475,042 shares outstanding as of 29 July 2026. At Friday’s $516.79 that count is worth $843,646,776,955.18. That is this arithmetic on the July count, not a Nasdaq market-cap print, and it excludes unvested shares. The August diluted guide of about 1.66 billion shares is the operating count. The June filing says the warrants had no impact because none had vested.

On that August call Su said Anthropic will deploy up to 2 gigawatts of MI450 series GPUs in Helios, with the first gigawatt beginning in the first half of 2027, beside the OpenAI and Meta deployments. She later called OpenAI, Meta and Anthropic the strategic anchor customers. That is a purchase book, not a vested tranche. A separate line in the June report says that after 27 June the company entered investment commitments of up to $5.0 billion, subject to contingencies, expected through fiscal 2028. The filing does not name the counterparty. Prior coverage, not this path, is the 6 October session at $649.42, the World Labs note, and the Anthropic capacity note.

What the tape and the filings show

The chart is the Nasdaq official daily close from 23 October 2025 through Friday’s $516.79. Daily lows are on the top panel, so the 6 October high of $658.52 and the window low of $188.22 both fit. The window is 252 sessions. The averages use the full saved series, which starts in June 2025.

Nasdaq official daily closes for AMD through Friday 23 October 2026. The top panel includes the daily lows. FinanceFeeds chart, 26 October 2026.

From the 31 December 2025 close of $214.16, Friday is up 141.310 percent. The path is a re-rating that has already happened, then a giveback from the 6 October high.

On Friday, 23 October, @MacroTerrain quoted the 8-K: a warrant to OpenAI OpCo “to purchase up to an aggregate of 160 million shares” at $0.01, vesting “in tranches based on milestones tied to purchases of AMD Instinct” GPUs. The status is the social source. The filing is the document. The post does not say a tranche has vested.

What AMD said, and what it has not reported

Lisa Su, chair and chief executive, in the 4 August release: “We delivered an excellent quarter, with record revenue and profitability as Data Center revenue more than doubled year-over-year.” She followed it with: “We enter the second half with strong momentum as EPYC demand accelerates, Instinct deployments scale and Helios begins to ramp.” On the same call, as printed by The Motley Fool, she said: “And in terms of the revenue per gigawatt, I think we’ve said double-digit billions. We’re still in that range.” That sentence has no printed floor. It does not put November at $794.75.

Jean Hu, executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, on that August call, put the third-quarter diluted share count at approximately 1.66 billion shares. On the 6 October 2025 partnership call Su said the final tranche vests “at a price of $600 per share,” and: “Overall, we expect it will be highly accretive to AMD’s non-GAAP earnings per share immediately from first revenue.” Hu’s answer: “The warrant is only vested based on the performance milestone. When revenue is recognized, it will be included fully in that share count, only when vested and exercised.” A November date in that 2025 transcript is the old calendar. The 2026 date is 3 November.

No document saved here and dated after 27 June 2026 says a warrant share has vested. The June report says none had vested or become exercisable, and the warrants had no impact on the statements. The November release is the next document that can change that zero. Until it does, the 1.66 billion guide is the diluted count in the outlook, and the 320 million shares stay a contingency.

The penny, the liability, and the multiple

Full exercise of both warrants adds 320 million shares. On the 29 July count of 1,632,475,042, the enlarged count is 1,952,475,042. That is an increase of 19.602 percent. The new shares would be 16.389 percent of the enlarged company. The exercise price is $0.01, so the cash in is $3.2 million. At Friday’s close the same 320 million shares are worth $165,372,800,000 on paper. The cash is small next to the paper. The dilution is the ownership.

The June report classifies the warrants as liabilities until the conditions for equity classification are met. They are not, on that filing, shares already in the diluted count. Holding Friday’s equity value of $843,646,776,955.18 flat and spreading it across the enlarged count gives $432.09. That is the flat-dilution price. It is not the bear. The bear of $394.20 is $37.89 below $432.09, so the bear is more than the warrant haircut alone.

Annualizing one quarter of non-GAAP earnings, $1.66 times four, is $6.64. Friday’s $516.79 divided by $6.64 is 77.83 times. That is one reported quarter, repeated, not a street forward multiple. The same $6.64 under the bull is 119.69 times, and under the bear is 59.37 times. Spreading $794.75 across the enlarged count is $664.49. That haircut is not the title. At $516.79 the final OpenAI tranche has not met $600.

Bull, base, and bear

The title numbers are this distribution, not a broker target and not the 6 October pair of $757 and $390, which was struck from a $631.75 close. This bull is $794.75, $37.75 away from $757 and $14.75 away from $780. This bear is $394.20, $4.20 away from $390. The year-end horizon stays, because the rounded bull is not within $1 of a bull already used on those pages.

The spot is Friday’s $516.79 close. The last 90 daily log-returns run from the close on 16 June 2026 through the close on 23 October 2026. The first return in the window is 17 June. Mu is 0.0002061530. Sigma, the sample standard deviation with n minus 1, is 0.0409108349. N is 47: five sessions from 26 to 30 October, 20 November weekdays once 26 November is out, and 22 December weekdays once 25 December is out. The 27 November and 24 December early closes count. The square root of 47 is 6.85565460.

Base is the spot times e to the power of N times mu. Forty-seven times 0.0002061530 is 0.0096891911. e to that power, applied to $516.79, is $521.8216, which rounds to $521.82, up $5.03, or 0.973 percent. Bull adds 1.5 times sigma times the square root of N. Sigma times 6.85565460 is 0.2804705534, and 1.5 times that is 0.4207058302. The exponent is 0.4303950213. On $516.79 that is $794.7532, which rounds to $794.75, up $277.96, or 53.786 percent. Bear subtracts one times 0.2804705534. The exponent is -0.2707813623. On $516.79 that is $394.1988, which rounds to $394.20, down $122.59, or 23.721 percent. The bull stays above the spot, so the small positive drift is kept. This is not financial advice.

CasePriceVersus the $516.79 spotWhat has to be true

Bull$794.75Up $277.96, or 53.786 percentThe drift continues and 31 December finishes 1.5 standard deviations above it. The $600 gate can be met again. Vesting is still a separate event.
Base$521.82Up $5.03, or 0.973 percentOnly the mean continues for 47 sessions. The multiple stays near 77.83 times one annualized quarter. No new share count is in the close.
Bear$394.20Down $122.59, or 23.721 percentThe same drift minus one standard deviation. That price is below the $432.09 flat-dilution haircut, so the warrant alone does not get there.

The bull of $794.75 is $136.23 above the 6 October high of $658.52. The base of $521.82 is $20.46 under the 50-day average and $65.40 under the 20-day average, so the mean alone does not reclaim either line. The bear of $394.20 sits under the $432.09 haircut.

What happens next

Tuesday, 3 November 2026, is the first session that can price the quarter. The release is after the close and the call is at 5 p.m. Eastern, so Wednesday’s cash close is the first official bar after the numbers. Seven sessions from Friday through 3 November, on the same mu and sigma, put a bull at $608.77, a base at $517.54 and a bear at $464.44. That band is not the title. A result inside $12.7 billion to $13.3 billion would say the August guide held. It would not, by itself, print $794.75 or $394.20. A vesting line would change the share-count reading. Silence would leave the 27 June zero in place.

After that, the tape test is the 50-day average of $542.2791, then the 20-day average of $587.2225. Closes back through the 50-day would say the giveback from $649.42 had stopped. A close under Thursday’s $502.60 low would say Friday did not finish the de-rating. On 31 December the base of $521.82 is only the mean continued for 47 sessions. The UBS conference on 1 December and the Barclays conference on 9 December are remarks, not a new close.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the sessions through 31 December 2026 put a fresh bull and bear from the latest official AMD close, once the warrant dilution and the multiple, not the next quarter’s revenue, are in the distribution?

They put the bull at $794.75, the base at $521.82 and the bear at $394.20, from the $516.79 Nasdaq close on 23 October 2026. The path uses 47 sessions, a mean log-return of 0.0002061530 and a sample standard deviation of 0.0409108349. The base is $5.03 above the close because that mean is slightly positive. A print near $13 billion is not an input. The unvested warrant changes the count only if it vests.

Does the 3 November revenue print set $794.75 or $394.20?

No. AMD said on 6 October 2026 that third-quarter results come on Tuesday, 3 November, after the close, with the call at 5 p.m. Eastern. The August guide is about $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million. Seven sessions through that close put a separate band at $608.77, $517.54 and $464.44. That band is not the title. A result inside the guide does not, by itself, land $794.75 or $394.20.

Have any of the OpenAI or Meta warrant shares vested?

Not on the last filing. The quarterly report for the quarter ended 27 June 2026 says that as of that date no warrant shares had vested or become exercisable, and the warrants had no impact on the financial statements. Each warrant is for up to 160 million shares at $0.01. The OpenAI warrant’s final tranche also needs a $600 stock-price target. Friday’s close is $83.21 under $600. The 3 November release is the next document that can change the zero.

What does full exercise do to the share count?

It adds 320 million shares to the 1,632,475,042 outstanding as of 29 July 2026. The count becomes 1,952,475,042, up 19.602 percent. The new shares are 16.389 percent of the enlarged company. Cash in is $3.2 million. At Friday’s close those shares are worth $165,372,800,000 on paper. Holding Friday’s equity value flat, the price is $432.09. The $394.20 bear is below that haircut. The bull is not restated as $664.49.

Is $794.75 a broker target or the older $757 bull?

No. The $794.75 bull, the $521.82 base and the $394.20 bear are this distribution, from Friday’s close and the last 90 log-returns. The 6 October English page used $757 and $390 on a $631.75 close. That pair is not reused. This bull is $37.75 away from $757. The 77.83 times figure is $516.79 divided by $6.64, one quarter of non-GAAP earnings times four, not a street forward multiple.

What would make the $521.82 base the wrong year-end price?

A break in the drift. The base only compounds the recent mean for 47 sessions. Closes back through the 50-day average of $542.2791, then the 20-day average of $587.2225, would mean that mean had stopped. A vesting event, or a quarter that forces a new share count into the tape, would change the business reading. It would still not make $794.75 a promise. The formula uses completed closes. A premarket print is not a new spot.
