US stock futures edged higher on Tuesday as investors prepared for the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting and assessed whether Wall Street’s AI-driven rebound could continue.
S&P 500 futures were up 0.25%, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.29%. Nasdaq futures gained 0.46%.
The positive mood follows Monday’s gains after Anthropic publicly filed for its much-anticipated IPO. Here are five developments to watch before the opening bell.
5 things to know before Wall Street opens on Tuesday
1. Nvidia’s $3 billion investment in Meta
Nvidia confirmed it would invest $3 billion in Meta Platforms’ equity offering as the companies deepen their AI partnership.
Meta plans to expand its use of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems, Vera CPUs, Spectrum-X networking and BlueField technology.
Meta’s current equity offerings could raise up to $37.5 billion, with a separate at-the-market programme of up to $60 billion planned after its new Class C shares begin trading in 2027.
The deal highlights continued AI investment but renews concerns about circular financing, as Nvidia invests in a major customer that buys its chips.
2. Oil prices swing amid Middle East diplomacy
Crude prices fluctuated as investors weighed diplomatic efforts involving Iran and regional governments against continued supply risks.
Brent and West Texas Intermediate fell earlier on hopes of de-escalation but subsequently recovered befre going down again.
Brent crude fell about 1% toward the $114. 67 area, while West Texas Intermediate slipped near $100.71.
Renewed attacks and risks to regional shipping routes continue to threaten energy supplies, keeping oil markets volatile.
3. Fed meeting and economic data in focus
The Federal Open Market Committee begins its two-day meeting on Tuesday, with its policy decision due Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET, followed by the chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Markets widely expect rates to remain unchanged following September’s increase.
Investors will look for clues about inflation and the possibility of further tightening.
Traders will also watch Tuesday’s durable goods orders, consumer confidence and new-home sales reports for signs of economic strength.
4. Corporate earnings roll in
Coca-Cola, Boeing, Paypal and Visa are among the major companies reporting results Tuesday.
Coca-Cola beat third-quarter expectations and raised its full-year profit forecast, while Boeing and Visa results will provide further insight into corporate performance.
Celestica also delivered strong results after Monday’s close, reporting $5.83 billion in third-quarter revenue and adjusted earnings of $3.30 per share.
It raised its 2026 outlook and issued robust 2027 guidance, sending shares more than 15% higher in extended trading.
5. Asian technology stocks rally
Asian markets advanced as enthusiasm around AI lifted semiconductor shares.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 1.73%, while South Korea’s Kospi rose 3.09%. Samsung Electronics advanced 4.23% and SK Hynix gained 5.18%.
The regional rally followed Monday’s gains in US technology stocks after Anthropic’s IPO filing.
Investors will now look to earnings and the Fed’s guidance to determine whether renewed optimism around AI can sustain the broader market rebound.
