BitMine Completes $350 Million Share Buyback, Claims Crypto…

BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR), the Ethereum-focused digital asset treasury company chaired by Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee, has confirmed the completion of a $350 million share repurchase program, describing it as the largest stock buyback executed by a cryptocurrency treasury company.

The company repurchased approximately 21 million common shares between July 14 and August 17, 2026, according to remarks published by Lee and filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in October.

The transaction forms part of BitMine’s broader capital allocation strategy, which combines Ethereum accumulation, staking operations and equity repurchases. The company has increasingly used buybacks to address what management considers a disconnect between its share price and underlying asset value.

The completed repurchases also demonstrate how cryptocurrency treasury companies are adopting traditional corporate finance strategies as competition for institutional investment intensifies.

$350 Million Repurchase Targets Equity Valuation

BitMine began buying back shares on July 14, when its stock was trading near levels management considered attractive. By August 17, the company had completed approximately $350 million in repurchases, equivalent to an average expenditure of roughly $16.67 per share based on the rounded figures disclosed.

The repurchases were conducted under a larger authorization that BitMine expanded to $4 billion in April 2026, alongside its move to the New York Stock Exchange.

Importantly, the $350 million represents completed purchases rather than the full $4 billion authorization. The remaining authorization provides flexibility for additional transactions but does not constitute a commitment to spend the entire amount.

Lee said the purchases helped establish a low for BitMine’s share price. That assessment reflects management’s interpretation of subsequent trading performance rather than definitive evidence that the buyback caused a market recovery.

Repurchasing shares can increase existing shareholders’ proportional ownership and improve per-share financial metrics, provided the shares are retired or otherwise reduce the effective outstanding share count.

However, buybacks also consume capital that could otherwise support additional cryptocurrency purchases, liquidity reserves or operating investments.

Ethereum Treasury Strategy Remains Central

The repurchase program occurred as BitMine continued building one of the world’s largest corporate Ethereum treasuries.

In its August 17 operational update, BitMine reported approximately 5.82 million ETH, representing about 4.8% of Ethereum’s estimated 120.7 million-token supply. The company valued its combined cryptocurrency holdings, cash, marketable securities and strategic investments at approximately $11.4 billion.

Of its Ethereum holdings, roughly 5.07 million ETH were staked, reflecting BitMine’s emphasis on generating recurring income through blockchain validation. The company has established a long-term objective of accumulating 5% of Ethereum’s circulating supply, making ETH ownership a defining component of its corporate strategy.

BitMine’s approach differs from cryptocurrency treasury companies that concentrate primarily on accumulating tokens. Its repurchase program introduces another capital allocation mechanism intended to benefit shareholders when management believes its equity trades at a discount.

The strategy nevertheless carries risks. Ethereum price declines can reduce treasury valuations, while staking yields, liquidity requirements and financing conditions influence the company’s ability to sustain buybacks.

For investors, the completed $350 million repurchase provides evidence of actual capital deployment, rather than merely an announced authorization. Its longer-term significance will depend on whether BitMine can generate durable per-share value while maintaining its substantial exposure to Ethereum.
